Lisa’s Record
During my time on the Olympia City Council, I am proud to have helped navigate our communities through a global pandemic and the complex crises of homelessness, substance use, climate change, and racism as a public health crisis rooted in our shared values.
Working through the pandemic, we leveraged our ARPA and pandemic federal money to support Thurston. We worked quickly and boldly to keep people employed and small businesses open while supporting childcare facilities.
To get neighbors into housing and on a path to stability, we put together a comprehensive homelessness response plan that now provides supportive affordable housing and mitigation sites for those experiencing homelessness. I also helped with Council, Mayor Selby, and Representative Bateman to pass Home Fund, Inspire Olympia, and a Public Safety initiative.
Recognizing that climate change is an existential crisis requiring urgent action, I developed the Declaration of Climate Emergency passed in Thurston County and Tumwater. I also helped to build and pass the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan and the regional Sea Level Rise Plan. I am currently working on electrification of Olympia facilities and our fleet and more to further our Climate actions.
Committed to building communities where all can feel safe and reach their full potential, we developed Thurston County’s Social Justice and Equity Commission. We also set the first mandate to ensure effective police oversight that will increase public trust in our police department. I was also so proud to extend our Sanctuary City Status to include reproductive rights and health care – the first in the state to do so.
Career firefighter, former mayor of Tenino, and now, Thurston County Commissioner. Few people understand dedication and service to our community like Wayne Fournier.
I am proud and honored to have Wayne's endorsement for my campaign for the WA State House, and I urge you to go to his website and donate or sign up to volunteer to help his campaign this year! #retainwayne ... See MoreSee Less
